Friday in the United States Apple announced their newest addition of the iPad models, the Apple iPad 3G .

Apple latest model of the iPad is only a little bit heavier but from now on you can use internet in any place you want. Where is an 3G connection available .

If you want this feature at the beginning you have the add an extra 130 Euros when purchasing the 3G version. The rumours of prices of the 3G version (available in 16, 32 and 64 GB models) in Europe start around 500 Euros .  While they indicate the top model around 800 Euros you need to understand it is still a rumour . Next week monday Apple will announce the final prices and availabililty in all countries .  

Some US reviewers already warned the users they need to understand they pay extra for the feature but also have the subscription costs per month . 

They compared the performance of the iPad 3G on an AT&T network and it was the same like the iPhone 3GS did . The quality of reception was the same . While the 3G connection can not compete with a regular WiFi connection it is fast enough to check your emails, surf on the internet and use the online apps without any hassle .  

Due to the fast processor the iPad has onboard the webpages load much faster than on an iPhone . The feeling is really fast . We experienced no problems when the iPad automatically switched between 3G operation and WiFi operating mode . On top of your display you can see a nice icon which indicated if you are using WiFi or 3G .

The die-hard Apple fans are not the one who bother which model to buy . You have also other solutions available which let you use the regular WiFi iPad with almost the same feature set than the iPad 3G model . You need a Mifi router solution for this . Via this kind of software you can convert a device with GSM/3G/UMTS-signals into a WiFi-signal .  (Mifi-software is available for Windows Mobile Smartphones or jailbroken iPhones  or Symbian S60 phones).  

When using this Mifi-connection your iPad believes that the device is connected via a fast Wifi-connection . The advantage of this is that you can download large podcasts, install large applicaties and also be able to use applications that are not happy to use 3G like Skype and video applications .

Users in the U.S.A. complain that the offered video quality via 3G is low . Because the iPad has a bigger screen and needs more resolution you will experience these videos as bad quality. The iPhone has a little screensize but also lower resolution. This is why on the iPhone this complain is not heard before .  

You understand that if you want to use GPS the only good option you have is the 3G . The renewed GPS-chip of the iPad 3G, in combination with the network signal, works more precisely than that in the iPhone 3G(S) .

Is the price a problem for you, but you want really the same functionality and you are prepare to do some concessions? Installing the MiFi router solution will alow you to choose for the regular  iPad.
